The Oswego State field hockey team dominated possession time in the second half, but was unable to score in a 1-0 loss to Oneonta on Friday in Oswego. Ainsley Stoll scored her fourth goal in two games to post the eventual game-winner in the 29th minute for the Red Dragons.
The Lakers, who fell to 5-7-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the league, will face New Paltz on Saturday at 1 p.m. as part of Family and Friends Weekend. Oneonta, which improved to 7-7-0 overall and 4-1 in the SUNYAC, faces Cortland in the final conference game of the season.
Stoll netted her 11th goal of the season after she received a pass from Kathryn Kubaryk at the 28:38 mark as both teams only managed two shots each in the first half.
Oswego State pressured the Red Dragons almost immediately in the second half. However, the Laker efforts were stopped every time by Oneonta goalkeeper Leslie Dauphinais, who recorded six saves in the period. Oswego State goalie Jamie Scharfe (Jr., Webster, N.Y.) finished with one save as the Red Dragons attempted only four shots in the contest.
