Box Score

The Oswego State women's ice hockey team stayed with the ninth-ranked Neumann Knights, but came up short in a 4-2 loss on Saturday night in Aston, Pa. The Lakers erased a three-goal deficit after the first period to pull within one goal in the second, but were unable to get the game-tying score. Oswego State fell to 2-2-0 overall and 1-2-0 in ECAC West play, while Neumann improved to 3-1-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the league.

Neumann grabbed a 1-0 lead 39 seconds into the contest after a Jasper Thomson goal.  The Knights took a two-goal lead at 14:35 in the first period when Kayla Dubowski scored on a pass from Jennie Greenlee.  Neumann's lead grew to three goals before the end of the frame as Diane Peters tallied a power play goal three minutes later.

The Lakers came out with increased intensity in the second period, resulting in a goal by Jenna Kirkwood (Sr., Chilliwack, B.C.) at the 00:22 mark.  She was assisted by Kathryn Sbrocchi (So., Mississauga, Ont.).  Oswego State pulled to within one goal in the 13th minute when Jillian Bergeron (So., Brockville, Ont.) scored after receiving a feed from Angie Friesen (Sr., Chilliwack, B.C.) and Sarah Hannon (Jr., Lackawanna, N.Y.).  The Knights ended the Laker rally less than two minutes later when Mariah Fairgrieve scored the second power play goal of the contest as Neumann held a 4-2 lead after two periods.

Neither team scored in the third period as the Knights recorded the 4-2 win.  Oswego State netminder Emi Williams (Jr., Anchorage, Alaska) registered 40 saves on 44 shots, as two of the four goals allowed were power play scores.  Neumann goaltender Laura Keeley made 18 saves and allowed two goals.

Both teams square off tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m.
