Fourth-ranked Elmira College shuts out Lakers, 4-0

OSWEGO – Elmira College scored two power play goals and added two more at even strength to deal Oswego State its second 4-0 shutout loss in the past three games in the first game of a two-game ECAC Women's West series on Friday, Feb. 13 at the Campus Center Ice Arena.

The Soaring Eagles (17-3-1, 13-1-1 ECAC Women's West) went 2-for-6 on the power play, including the first goal of the game, scored at 11:55 of the first period by junior forward Karen Colehour (Schenectady, NY). In the second period, junior defenseman Tiffany Hart (Perth, ONT) scored two goals within three minutes of each other – the first at 3:31 of the period and the second at 5:59 – to stretch the Soaring Eagles' lead to 3-0. Junior forward Lauren DePaul (Liverpool, NY) finished off the scoring for Elmira College at 5:38 of the third period on a shot from the top of the right faceoff circle that beat Oswego State goaltender Emi Williams (Anchorage, AK) high.

Oswego State (8-12-1, 5-9-1 ECAC Women's West) did not convert on any of their five power plays and could not beat Elmira goaltender Allison Cubberley (Bracebridge, ONT), who earned the shutout with 17 saves. Williams stopped 35 shots for the Lakers, including 13 on the power play.

The Lakers are back in action at the Campus Center Arena Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. for the second game of the series against the Soaring Eagles. This game, the first Senior Night for the third-year program, will feature a live video Web stream.
