Jessica Lister (Aurora, ONT) scored early in the second period to pull Oswego State even with two-time NCAA Division III champion Plattsburgh State, but the Cardinals scored twice late in the period and held the Lakers scoreless in the third period to come away with a 3-1 triumph in the opening game of a two-game ECAC Women's West Division series on Friday, Feb. 20 at Plattsburgh.
Ainsley Brien scored the game's opening goal at 3:42 of the first period for Plattsburgh (19-3-2, 14-3-0 ECAC West), who outshot Oswego (8-14-1, 5-11-1 ECAC West), 39-10, before Lister tallied her fourth goal of the year 2:09 into the second period off a pass from sophomore Krista Pattemore (Athens, ONT). The Cardinals tacked on a pair of goals late in the period, with Claire O'Connor netting the game winner at the 10:45 mark and Kristen Bond adding an insurance goal at 17:34.
Sophomore goalie Emi Williams (Anchorage, AK) stopped 36 shots for Oswego, who will face Plattsburgh in game two of the series Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m., the final regular-season contest of the year for both teams.
