Senior guard
Kyle Reuter (Mexico) led the Lakers with 29 points in a win over SUNY Cortland, scoring 18 points in the second half. After trailing by four points in the second half, the Lakers went on an eight-to-zero run, retaking the lead, and never relinquishing it, holding on to win 84-76 on Feb. 6 at the Max Ziel Gymnasium.
Junior forward Stanley Francois (Valley Cottage) contributed a “double-double” with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Tommy Downing (Staten Island/Cutris) and freshmen forward Chad Burridge (Hannibal) each dropped 18 points in the victory.
Senior forward Carson Niehoff (West Islip) led the Red Dragons with 26 points, going 8-of-11 from the field. Junior Paul Oliver (phoenix) added 18 points and Junior Will Coston (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) contributed 12.
The Lakers stole the ball 14 times while forcing 18 turnovers. Sophomore guard Jose Uribe (Far Rockaway/Newtown) had three steals to go along with his eight points coming off the bench.
The Lakers improve their record to 12-7 overall and 8-3 in the SUNYAC Division and return to action tomorrow night on the road against SUNY Brockport at 8 p.m.
