Sarah Keller's goal at 16:08 in the first half proved to be the game-winning goal for Utica as Oswego State dropped a tight contest 1-0 on Wednesday.  Laker goalkeeper Jamie Scharfe (Jr., Webster, N.Y.) kept Oswego State in the contest as she stepped up to make 11 saves, including eight in the first half.

Coach Brandi Ostrander's squad was forced to play on the defensive for most of the contest, which resulted in two shots for the Lakers compared to the 19 Pioneer shots.  Sara Budde (Jr., Appleton, N.Y.) recorded one of the Oswego shots after a penalty corner in the ninth minute of play.  The other Laker shot came off the stick of Kelly Collins (So., Fairport, N.Y.) during the 20th minute following another penalty corner.  Oswego State was unable to generate any other scoring opportunities after that point.

The Lakers, who fell to 1-2 overall, return to action on Wednesday, Sep. 16 against Nazareth at home with the game starting at 4 p.m.
