Rachel Kohrs hit the game-winning shot with 10.6 seconds remaining to give the Oswego State women's basketball team a 45-43 victory against New Paltz on Tuesday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium. Kohrs drained a pull-up jumper from the left elbow, as the Lakers pushed their current winning streak to five games. The game, which marked the end of the first half of the SUNYAC schedule, pushed Oswego State to 9-7 overall and 6-3 in the league, while the Hawks dropped to 9-7 overall and 6-3 in the conference.

New Paltz took a narrow 28-26 lead into the locker room, which the Lakers erased with 14:20 on the clock in the second half when Kayla Ryan made a lay-up after receiving a feed from Traci Bacon to make the score 32-30.

Both defenses turned up the intensity as the squads combined to score just three points over the course of the next six minutes.  Oswego State held a 41-38 advantage before a trey by the Hawks' Maggie Farrell evened the game.  On the next trip up the floor, Colleen McCready gave the Lakers a two-point lead again with a pair of free throws.  Carly Minehan tied the game at 43-43 for New Paltz with 1:43 left on the clock.  Kohrs then nailed the game-winner with 10.6 seconds remaining.  The Hawks pushed the ball up the floor, but was unable to sink the lay-up giving Oswego State the two-point victory.

Kohrs joined McCready in double-digits with 11 points for the Lakers, who improved to 9-1 when limiting their opponents to fewer than 58 points.  Maggie Farrell was the only New Paltz player to reach double-figures with 10 points.

The Lakers start a four-game road trip on Friday when they take on Geneseo at 6 p.m.  New Paltz will travel to Potsdam on Friday for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
