Houghton's Ruth Doolittle accounted for the entire offensive output for both squads on Thursday afternoon as she recorded two goals to give the Oswego State field hockey team a 2-0 loss at Houghton. Laker goaltender
Jamie Scharfe compiled 11 saves during the contest, but to no avail as Oswego State fell to 4-10 overall. The Lakers will wrap up their season next Wednesday at Nazareth.
Doolittle posted her first goal of the game at the 18:45 mark in the first half with an unassisted score to give the Highlanders, who outshot Oswego State 13-6 in the frame, a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Doolitte added her second marker early in the second stanza shortly after she put a Houghton penalty corner into play. She received a pass from Jennifer Huyett before putting the ball past Scharfe, giving the Highlanders a comfortable two-goal advantage. The Lakers made a final push in the period, but Houghton would leave the field with the 2-0 victory.
