Ninety minutes of regulation and two overtime periods could not separate the Oswego State women's soccer team and New Paltz as they played to a 1-1 draw on a blustery, cold Friday afternoon in Oswego. The tie moves the Lakers to 6-9-1 overall and 1-6-1 in SUNYAC play while the Hawks now stand at 6-7-2 overall and 4-3-1 in conference play.

The two teams played to a scoreless affair in the first stanza as the teams combined for just six shots, with only two finding their way on net, both for the Lakers. New Paltz started the scoring in the 51st minute on a Brittany Bennett through ball on the right side to Sherri Lajoie who beat Laker goalkeeper Christina Fregosi to the left side. The Lakers knotted the game at one in the 74th minute when Kelly Adams threaded a through ball up the left side to Toby Klein who fired a blistering shot into the top right corner past Hawk netminder Stephanie Vega.

The Lakers had an excellent opportunity for the game-winner with under four minutes remaining in regulation when Shelly Bateman corralled the ball in front of the nearside of the net. She rifled a shot at the open right side of the net, but the ball sailed wide right.

Neither team attempted a shot in the first overtime, but New Paltz nearly scored the sudden-death winner in the second overtime when Samantha Abravanel booted a shot from long distance off the crossbar and the fingertips of Fregosi.

Fregosi and Vega both finished with four saves in net. Oswego State hosts powerhouse Oneonta on Saturday at 1 p.m.
