The Oswego State women's soccer team could not overcome two first half Oneonta goals as it dropped a 2-1 affair Saturday afternoon in Oswego. The loss dropped the Lakers to 1-7-1 in conference play and 6-10-1 overall, while the win boosted the Red Dragons to a first-place tie in the SUNYAC at 7-1-1 and 12-4-2 overall.

Oneonta controlled possession throughout the game as it outshot Oswego State 21-3 with a decisive 12-1 shots on goal margin. Nha Wright got the scoring started in the fourth minute for Oneonta as she took a Kayla Brantmeyer pass, beating a Laker defender and then goalkeeper Christina Fregosi into the right side of the net. The Red Dragons converted their second first half marker in the 34th minute when Dana DeSimone controlled a rebound in the box before pounding it home for the two goal lead.

Oswego State responded just 13 seconds later when Nikki Liadka fed Shelly Bateman for her fifth goal of the season, bringing the halftime deficit to one. Despite the large discrepancy in shots between the two sides, the Lakers remained in the game the entire second hand as Fregosi came up with some big saves. However, Oswego State was unable to produce an attack of its own as it could not muster many offensive chances.

Fregosi finished with nine saves in net for the Lakers, while Amy Lusby recorded no saves in the win for Oneonta. Oswego State concludes its season as it hosts Clarkson Wednesday at 3 p.m.
