Kelly Collins gave the Oswego State field hockey team an early 1-0 lead in Wednesday's game at Nazareth, but the Golden Flyers scored two second half goals to hand the Lakers a 2-1 loss. Julie Davis tallied the game-winning goal on a penalty stroke in the 59th minute as Nazareth improved to 5-9 overall. Oswego State rounded out the season with an overall mark of 4-11.
Collins posted her eighth goal of the season and 20th of her career unassisted at the 9:48 mark in the contest. The Lakers registered six shots on goal during the first half, but was unable to tack on additional scores as they hung on to a 1-0 halftime lead.
The Golden Flyers' Nina Fargnoli leveled the score at one goal apiece when she scored her third goal of the season in the 39th minute. Nazareth pressured the Oswego State defense before taking the lead at 58:56 as Julie Davis capitalized on a penalty stroke. The Lakers responded by controlling the remainder of the contest, but Golden Flyer goalkeeper Kelsey Evans registered several pivotal saves and the defense blocked numerous shots down the stretch to clinch the victory.
