Men's Basketball Explodes Offensively In 95-83 Win At Ithaca

The Oswego State men's basketball team shot nearly 50 percent from the field and got to the free throw line 32 times in a 95-83 victory at Ithaca on Sunday. Chad Burridge scored 28 points and Conor Monaghan added 20 to propel the Laker attack and moved them to 2-1 on the season. The Bombers dropped to 2-2 with the loss.

Ithaca shot out to a 14-4 lead to start the game before the Lakers got hot from the field. Oswego State made five of its next seven shots and kept up its shooting touch throughout the half. A 42-21 run during the rest of the period gave the Lakers a 46-35 halftime lead.

The Lakers never surrendered the lead in the second half, but the Bombers brought the margin down to three on two occasions. The second occurrence was with 1:15 remaining in the game, but Oswego State closed the game on a 10-1 run to finish off the Bombers. All of the ten final Laker points were scored from the charity stripe, where they went 10-for-12 in the last 1:15 of the game.

Burridge shot 12-for-16 from inside the arc and grabbed eight rebounds in the game. Monaghan also tallied eight boards while shooting 8-of-11 from the field, including 3-for-3 from three-point range. Chris Gilkes tallied 15 points in the contest and Sean Michele finished the game with 11 points and seven assists.

Ithaca had four players score in double-digits with Jordan Marcus leading the team with 21 points.

Oswego State plays its first conference game of the season on Friday when it travels to Fredonia to match up with the Blue Devils.
