Box Score

Cold second-half shooting doomed the Oswego State men's basketball team in a 65-56 loss to host Fredonia on Friday night. The Lakers held a 25-21 halftime lead, but shot just 25.9 percent (7-of-27) from the field in the second half compared to 55.6 percent (10-of-18) for the Blue Devils. The loss dropped Oswego State to 6-11 in the SUNYAC standings and 12-12 overall, while Fredonia moved to 11-12 overall and 9-8 in the conference.

The Lakers put together a 14-2 run early in the first half behind five points from Stanley Francois and a pair of lay-ups by Sean Michele to grab a 21-13 lead with 9:29 remaining the stanza.  The Blue Devils cut the deficit in half before intermission when Julius Bryant scored two of his 14 points, as Oswego State led 25-21.

Ryan Sheridan's lay-up with 13:32 on the clock built the Laker lead back up to eight points at 34-26.  However, Amir Billups and Bryant would jump start a 13-0 Fredonia run midway through the second half to help the Blue Devils take a 39-34 lead four minutes later.  Chad Burridge ended the Oswego State scoring drought with a three-pointer on the next possession to bring the Lakers to within two points, but Fredonia hit 15-of-18 free-throws in the final four minutes to post the victory.

Ryan Sheridan paced the Lakers with 14 points, and was joined in double-digits by Stanley Francois, who posted 10 points and 11 rebounds.  The Blue Devils were led by Amir Billups, who contributed 17 points off of the bench.

Oswego State will wrap up its regular season at Buffalo State on Saturday at 4 p.m.
