The Oswego State women's basketball team struggled offensively as it saw its season come to an end after falling to Geneseo 65-39 in the SUNYAC Quarterfinal round on Tuesday night in Geneseo. The Lakers scored only 16 first-half points on 15.2 percent shooting (5-of-33), while the Blue Knight offense went 15-of-27 (55.6 percent) in the first 20 minutes to take a commanding halftime lead. Oswego State finished the season with an overall record of 13-13. Geneseo, which improved to 16-10, will face Cortland in the SUNYAC Semifinals on Friday.

The Lakers trailed by four points with 13:58 remaining in the first half before the Blue Knights went on the decisive 22-4 run over the next eight minutes to take a 32-10 lead.  Oswego State struggled to hit its shots for the rest of the half as the Lakers went 2-for-15 from behind the three-point line.  Rachel Kohrs (Sr., New Lebanon, N.Y.) hit one of those treys at the end of the frame sending Oswego State into the locker room trailing 43-16.

Geneseo's offense cooled down in the second half, while Coach Tracy Bruno's squad began to make its shots.  However, it would be too much of a deficit to overcome, as the Lakers drew no closer than 24 points as the Blue Knights cruised into the semifinal round.

Colleen McCready (Jr., Pittsford, N.Y.) led the way for Oswego State with eight points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, and two assists.  Kayla Ryan (So., Schaghticoke, N.Y.) and Kohrs also added eight points apiece for the Lakers.  Brittany Finkle led Geneseo with 11 points followed by 10 points from Alyssa Polosky.
