Men's Basketball Falls To Cortland 76-63

Cortland went on a 15-0 run midway through the second half en route to a 76-63 win over the Oswego State men's basketball team in Cortland on Friday. Each squad had three players finish in double-digits, but the difference in the game came down to field goal percentage as the Red Dragons shot 50.0 percent (31-of-62) compared to the Lakers, who shot 36.4 percent (20-of-55). Oswego State, which fell to 9-10 overall and 4-9 in the league standings, was led by Chad Burridge's. Dustin Marshall paced Cortland, which is 13-7 overall and 9-4 in the SUNYAC, with 16 points.

With Cortland leading 15-12, the Red Dragons put together a 15-5 run before a trey by Chad Burridge stopped the streak to make the score 30-20 with 8:02 on the clock.  The Lakers mounted a late charge, scoring seven unanswered points to close out the first half trailing 42-37.

Oswego State whittled the deficit down to three points at 49-46 and 13:15 to play, but Cortland went on the decisive 15-0 run over the next four minutes to take a commanding 64-46 lead.  The Lakers never got closer than 11 points from that point forward, as the Red Dragons posted the 76-63 victory.

Teammates joining Burridge in double figures were Stanley Francois and Conor Monaghan, who contributed 12 points each. 

Oswego State will face non-conference Morrisville on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Morrisville.
