Head coach Brandi Ostrander's field hockey team managed 27 shots, but ran into Ithaca's Kelly Singleton was up to the task nearly every time as Oswego State suffered a 3-1 loss at Ithaca on Saturday afternoon. Singleton recorded 17 saves in the contest to help the Bombers improve to 3-1 overall, while the Lakers fell to 1-3.

The game was scoreless until the 25:01 mark when Ithaca's Julia Conroy pushed the ball up the middle of the field before passing to the left post where Tracy Rivas was waiting. The Bombers went on to take the 1-0 lead into intermission.
Ithaca doubled its lead early in the second half as Oswego State goalie
Jamie Scharfe (Sr., Webster, N.Y.) stopped Katie Kennedy's initial shot at the left post, but was unable to control the rebound. The ball found Kennedy's stick, and she did not miss a second time. However, the Lakers struck back just over two minutes later when
Katie Mazuchowski (Jr., Tonawanda, N.Y.) took advantage of a scramble in front of the net to cut the deficit in half with almost 30 minutes to play.
That would be as close as Oswego State would get though as Heather Kozmir took a shot from nine yards out that found the back of the goal as Ithaca went on to post the 3-1 victory.
Scharfe ended the game with 12 saves in the losing effort as she was outdone by Singleton, who amassed 17 saves.
The Lakers look to rebound next Saturday when they travel to Cortland to open SUNYAC play in a 12 p.m. tilt.
