Brittany Roetzer (Jr., Akron, N.Y.) put the Oswego State field hockey team on the scoreboard early, but Brockport scored two goals before the end of the half as it handed the Lakers a 4-1 loss Tuesday in Brockport. Oswego State was outshot 17-5 by the Golden Eagles, who also received two second-half goals from Crystal Mott. The Lakers dropped to 1-5 overall and Brockport moved to 4-4 in the non-conference contest.
Roetzer posted her second goal of the season at 7:37 in the first half after receiving a pass from
Katie Mazuchowski to put Oswego State ahead 1-0. The lead did not last long, though, as five minutes later Kelly-Ann Henry evened the game. As the half was winding down, the Golden Eagles took the lead for good when Ashley Elmes connected with Jackie Massoni in the 31st minute.
Brockport extended its margin nearly eight minutes into the second stanza as Crystal Mott scored the first of two goals in the frame to seal the victory for the Golden Eagles. Kasey Schreiner recorded one save for the victors, while Oswego State goalie
Jamie Scharfe registered seven stops.
The Lakers will have time to regroup as their next game is Saturday, Oct. 1 in Oswego when they face the Golden Eagles again in the conference meeting.
