In its first action of 2011, the Oswego State women's ice hockey team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end as Neumann handed the Lakers a 3-1 loss on Friday night in Aston, Pa. The Knights scored in each period to improve to 8-4-2 overall and 5-4-0 in the ECAC West standings. Oswego State dropped to 6-5-3 on the season and 2-4-3 in the league.
The lone goal of the first period came off the stick of Jasper Thomson at 14:33 to give Neumann a 1-0 advantage heading into the locker room.
The Lakers answered back early in the second frame when
Megan Howe and
Mackenzie Lee found
Melissa Seamont for her first collegiate goal at the 4:23 mark. However, the Knights reclaimed the lead for good five minutes later as Kayla Dubowksi tallied the eventual game-winning goal after receiving a pass from Brittany Metcalfe.
Neumann added an insurance goal midway through the third period as Khristine Acosta registered a power-play goal at 13:04.
Oswego State goaltender
Emi Williams finished the contest with 23 saves in the losing effort, while Shannon Donnelly compiled 21 saves for the Knights.
The squads wrap up the series Saturday in Astor at 4 p.m.
