The Oswego State women's basketball team snapped a three-game skid by defeating Oneonta, which entered the game ranked second in the conference, 58-47, Tuesday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium. Freshman guard
Lauren Nunziato came off the bench to score 17 points, while
Kayla Ryan finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds, as Oswego State improved to 8-11 on the season and 5-7 in the SUNYAC standings.
Mary Kate O'Connell and Samantha Szkotak combined for 21 points in a losing effort for the Red Dragons. The loss dropped Oneonta to 15-4 on the season and 9-3 in SUNYAC play.
The Lakers established a lead in the first half on the strength of three-point shooting, going 7-for-12 (58.3 percent). Meanwhile, the Red Dragons struggled from behind the arc, converting only 3-of-12 attempts. Nunziato went 3-for-5 in field goal attempts, scoring all three in the span of 2:37 in the first half's final minutes. Her final trey helped give Oswego State a 35-26 lead at the half.

Kristen Diglio and
Traci Bacon combined on four more three-point scores in the first half and
Jenna Rossi scored a fifth three-pointer with 2:29 remaining in regulation as Oswego finished 8-for-18 in three-point shooting.
The Oswego State women went 12-for-19 from the free throw line, while Oneonta went 6-for-10. Bacon compiled six assists while Oneonta's Szkotak came away with four steals.
The Lakers continue their homestand with another SUNYAC rival on Friday night when they host Cortland at 6 p.m.
