Field Hockey Unable To Overcome Deficit In Loss At Brockport

Box Score

Junior Aislinn Breslin's (Carmel, N.Y.) goal in the 67th minute pulled the Oswego State field hockey team within a goal of host Brockport, but the Lakers were unable to complete a comeback in a 2-1 loss to the Golden Eagles on Saturday.  Brockport (3-3, 1-1 SUNYAC) built a two-goal lead in the first 47 minutes en route to the win.  Oswego State, which dropped to 2-5 overall and 0-2 in the league, travels to Ithaca on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. game.

The Golden Eagles struck in the 21st minute following one of 10 penalty corners taken in the first half after Taryn Rossi fed Madison Buckley for her fourth goal of the year.  Coach Brandi Ostrander's squad mustered five shots on goal in the half, but Brockport keeper Kasey Schreiner was up to the task turning aside each shot to preserve a 1-0 lead at the break.

With 46:44 elasped in the contest, Buckley assisted Jessica Blind's three marker of the year for the eventual game-winner.  Oswego State would not go down without a fight, though, as Jess Felice (Jr., Endicott, N.Y.) found Aislinn Breslin for her first career goal with 3:45 to play in regulation.  However, the Lakers were unable to level the score to pick up the loss.

Oswego State goalkeeper Julie Janusz (Sr., Auburn, N.Y.) recorded two saves in the losing effort, while Schreiner finished with six saves.
