Field Hockey Blanked By Cortland, 7-0

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State field hockey team (2-8, 1-3 SUNYAC) was unable to get on the scoreboard in a 7-0 loss to perennial powerhouse Cortland (5-4, 2-1 SUNYAC) on Friday.

The Red Dragons claimed the “Dragon Sword” for the 13th straight year, which goes to the winner of each Cortland-Oswego State game. After just over 18 minutes of play, the Lakers trailed 6-0 with two goals by Cortland's Erin Carrino and Mallory Guerin.

Junior Heather Jennings (Apalachin, N.Y.) tacked on a defensive save to keep the Red Dragons from scoring early in the second half. However, Cortland would add one more goal before all was said and done in the 42nd minute.

Laker goalie Nicole Moccaldi (Fr., East Islip, N.Y.) registered six saves in the loss. Cortland's Amanda Perricone recorded five stops in the contest.

The Lakers travel to Elmira on Tuesday to match up with the Soaring Eagles at 4 p.m.
