Fox Chapel, P.A. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey shut out Chatham University 4-0 on the road Saturday night. With the win, the Lakers improve to 5-1-1 on the year and 3-1-1 in ECAC West play.
Oswego scored in all three periods, with
Melissa Seamont being involved in the Lakers first three goals. Seamont assisted on Oswego's first goal which was scored by
Kendall Appelbaum at 4:22 in the opening period.
After the intermission, Seamont scored a game-changer with the Lakers in a man-down situation. The senior found the back of the net with an unassisted goal at 6:28 in the second period to give the team a two-goal edge.
In the final period, classmate and captain
Olivia Boersen benefited from Seamont's third point of the night as she and Alli Ullirich assisted on Boersen's score. The goal came in a power-play situation at 3:36 as did the Lakers' final goal at 9:25, a score from Megan Haag, assisted by
Bridget Hamlin and
Chelsea Hunt.
Oswego will return to action at 1 p.m. on Sunday when it finishes the weekend at Chatham.
