Plattsburgh, N.Y. -- The Oswego State women's soccer team moved back over.500 with a 2-0 win over Bard College in the first game of Plattsburgh's Cardinal Classic on Friday night. With the win, the Lakers move to 2-1 on the season while Bard falls to 1-2. Oswego will finish its play in the Cardinal Classic at 1 p.m. on Saturday with a game against St. Lawrence University.
The first half was all the Lakers needed as
Nikki Liadka scored her sixth goal in just three games to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. The senior scored on a strong shot from just outside the 18-yard box off a pass from
Tia Segretto.
Bri Dolan added to the Lakers lead 14 minutes later, scoring on a pass from
Dana Pitts. Pitts sent Dolan on a run and when the keeper came out to stop the pass, Dolan flipped the ball over the goalie to find the net.
The score held throughout the entire second half.
Alyssa Glasshagel and
Steph Hotaling combined for a shutout in the contest. Glasshagel stopped two shots in the first half while Hotaling also saved two attempts in the second.
