DANBURY, Conn – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has named Oswego State field hockey goalie Sarita Charap its Division III Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on October 12, 2014. This is the third time this season that Charap has earned this honor.

In a two game week, the freshman goalkeeper played every minute for the Lakers. During a 2-0 loss to St. John Fisher College on Oct. 7, Charap recorded 12 saves, just one below her season high.  She then posted a shutout on the following day against Elmira, collecting six saves off of the Soaring Eagles. The shutout marked her second on the year.

On the season, the Ocean City, NJ native is ranked nationally in two categories for Division III field hockey. Her .837 save percentage is good enough for 12th in the country. She also ranks 27th in the nation for saves per game, with 8.7.

Charap and the rest of the field hockey team will be back in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday for a home bout against Wells College.  Fans are asked to wear the color orange as the game is promoting awareness for Multiple Sclerosis.
