OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team fell to No. 24 Geneseo 1-0 at home on Friday afternoon, dropping its record to 5-6-3 on the season and 2-2-3 in conference. Geneseo improves to 12-2-1 overall, 5-1 in the SUNYAC.
It was an even first half between the two teams as neither (split) could maintain offensive possession for too long. The Lakers were able to put two shots on goal, which was one better than Geneseo, but both were saved by the keeper.
The Knights scored the lone goal of the match at the 23:24 mark of the second half. Erin Froehlich fed Leah Greene into the box and she was able to score on a low shot to
Alyssa Glasshagel's left side.
Oswego found a few chances in the second half off of a pair of
Georgia Traynor corners.
Mary Morrison had a header off one 10:57 into the half that was saved and
Sarah Grupp sent a header just wide a few minutes later.
Despite the loss, Oswego edged Geneseo in shots-on-goal, 5-3. Glasshagel recorded two saves on the day.
Women's soccer returns to the field tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Brockport at home.
