LA PLUME, Pa. – The Oswego State field hockey team followed the tandem of
Lisa O'Callaghan and
Grace Rinaldi to a 2-0 win over Keystone College on the road Thursday afternoon. Oswego's win improves the squad's record to 3-6 on the year while the Giants fall to 2-9.
Rinaldi and O'Callaghan would connect twice in the contest, starting with the first score at 33:29. With just under two minutes to play in the opening period, the Lakers executed a penalty corner that ended with Rinaldi finding her senior teammate for a goal.
The 1-0 advantage held through the halftime and lasted until Oswego added an insurance goal in the 52nd minute. Rinaldi again found O'Callaghan, this time on a crossing pass that just need to be tapped in, making the score 2-0.
Freshman
Sarita Charap would take care of the rest, holding Keystone scoreless for the duration of the game, recording her first collegiate shutout by collecting nine saves.
The Lakers dominated play on Thursday, outshooting the Giants 21-13 including an 18-9 margin in shots-on-goal. O'Callaghan even held a slight edge in shots-on-goal, taking one more attempt than the Keystone squad.
Oswego will be back in action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday when it hosts St. John Fisher College in a nonconference matchup.
