OSWEGO, N.Y.- The Oswego State women's ice hockey team fell 2-0 to Castleton State College on the road in its season-opener. Oswego goes to 0-1-0 on the early season.

The Lakers were neck-and-neck with the Spartans through one period, ending the first 20 minutes in 0-0 tie. Laker goalie
Bridget Smith recorded 15 saves to keep the game even through one.

Castleton opened the scoring in the second period, scoring short-handed 5:43 into the period. The Spartans tacked on another a little less than five minutes later to make it 2-0 which would hold up for the remainder of the game.

Smith finished the night with 32 saves for the Lakers, just two shy of a career-record.

Women's ice hockey will return to the rink at 3 p.m. tomorrow at New England College.
