Oswego's men's basketball team has an important contest at 4 p.m. on Saturday as it takes on the Red Dragons of Cortland on the road. The Lakers and Cortland are tied for fifth place entering Friday night, each holding 9-8 records in SUNYAC play. Both teams are coming off upsets, as Oswego defeated nationally-ranked and conference leader Brockport 95-83 on Tuesday night while the Red Dragons took down the conference's second place Knights of Geneseo 65-53 that same night. Oswego beat Cortland at home 60-41, dominating on defense which resulted in the Red Dragons posting their lowest-point total in over 17 years.
Oneonta currently sits in fourth place in the standings but is only a half a game in the loss column ahead of Oswego and Cortland while still having games to play on Friday and Saturday. An Oswego win and some help from Oneonta could land the Lakers in fourth place, earning them a home game in the SUNYAC Championship. The Red Dragons have a tough weekend ahead, with games against first place Brockport and third place Geneseo with both of those teams coming off losses.
