Rinaldi Notches Game-Winner in OT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Oswego State field hockey team used Grace Rinaldi's sudden-victory goal in the sixth minute of overtime to move past the host Nazareth College Golden Flyers 4-3 on Saturday afternoon. Rinaldi's score secured the Lakers first win of the year as they are now 1-2 while Nazareth possesses the same mark after its loss.

It look as though Oswego had found the game-winner in the 64th minutes as Sam Perez scored an unassisted goal to give the squad a 3-2 advantage. The Golden Flyers were able to even the game just under four minutes later, however, as Catherine Willard scored the equalizer.

That goal set up an extra period to decide a winner, which Rinaldi settled at 76:50 after receiving a pass from Lisa O'Callaghan to notch her first goal of the young season.

Danielle Cronk had a breakout game in just her third collegiate contest, scoring an unassisted goal to open the games scoring at 9:20.  O'Callghan was able to score in the first as well, with an assist from Jenna Jevons at 19:55. The Lakers would end the half tied with Nazereth.

In goal, the reigning SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week, Sarita Charap, played solid yet again, making 13 saves off the Golden Flyers' shot attempts.

Oswego will return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday as it hosts Houghton College in its home-opener.
