OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team fell 5-1 to No. 1 Plattsburgh Sunday afternoon on the road. With the loss, the Lakers are now 11-4-1 on the year and 7-3-1 in the conference. The Cardinals remain undefeated at 15-0-2, 10-0-0 in the SUNYAC.
Kendall Appelbaum scored Oswego's sole goal in the game late in the third period.
Andrea Noss won a faceoff deep in the Cardinals zone and followed the puck behind the back of the net. She then shoveled a pass to
Olivia Ellis in the corner who fed it to Appelbaum on the blue line. The defender ripped a slap shot that was able to beat the Cardinal's goaltender.
The team played well on the power play, killing off all five of Plattsburgh's opportunities.
Tori Trovato began in the net for the Lakers, making 27 saves before the team decided to switch in
Bridget Smith with 9:28 left in the second. Smith finished the game with 20 saves.
Women's ice hockey will return home for its next game, hosting Buffalo State at 7 p.m. on Friday.
