UTICA, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's ice hockey team defeated Saint John's University 2-0 Saturday afternoon in the second game of the Radisson Thanksgiving Showcase hosted by Utica College. With the win, the Lakers move to .500 on the year (4-4-1) while the Johnnies fall to 2-6-2.

Shawn Hulshof got the Lakers on the board first, connecting on a one-timer 5:41 on the power play into the second. The Lakers' Alex Botten took the faceoff deep in the offensive zone, winning it back to Stephen Johnson who inturn floated it to Hulshof. The junior forward wasted no time gunning the puck past the Johnnies netminder, giving the Lakers the 1-0 lead.

Oswego would later add an insurance goal in the third period as David Ferreira finish a Sean Federow slapshot from right outside of the crease.

In goal for Oswego was Matt Zawadzki who notched 22 saves in his second shutout of the year.

Botten's performance over the weekend also garnered him All-Tournament Team accolades.

Men's ice hockey will return to action with a bit of SUNYAC play as it hosts Buffalo State at the Marano Campus Center Arena at 7 p.m. on Friday.
