BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The No. 3 Lakers of Oswego State saw their seven-game winning streak ended and season come to a close with a 3-0 (13-25, 13-25, 22-25) loss to second-seeded New Paltz in the semifinal round of the SUNYAC Championship, held at first-seeded Brockport's Tuttle Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. Oswego finishes the season with a 25-10 overall mark, its most wins in over two decades and fourth-most in program history.
New Paltz (22-10) advances to Sunday's 12 p.m. championship tilt and will play the winner of Saturday's second semifinal between the No. 1 Golden Eagles and No. 5 Cortland.
Senior
Kelsey Dillon finished with a team-high eight kills and was aided by freshman Arial Murawski's six and classmate
Kim Cassa's four. Fellow senior
Rachael Ruggaber collected a Laker-best 15 digs in the matchup while also adding one ace. Junior
Lauren Edwards matched Ruggaber's one ace and led the squad with 12 assists. Classmate
Lindsey Champitto chipped in eight assists to aid in the effort.
On defense, junior
Megan Russell had an Oswego-high two blocks while Dillon and Champitto ended with one apiece.
Dillon was the sole Laker to be named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team as well.
