FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team struggled on offense in a 79-39 loss in the SUNYAC opener at Fredonia on Friday night in Steele Hall. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 1-5 overall while the Blue Devils jump to 4-1.
Oswego was led by
Tayler Sorell's 11 points, as she was the only Laker in double figures on the night. In all, nine different Lakers scored, including
Sarah Feminella (6 pts.),
Courtney Ameele (5),
Mary Mazzella (5),
Alison Nunziato (3),
Alex Cecere (3),
Kayla Tucek (2),
Monica Harvey (1) and
Allie Izzo (1).
On the boards, the Lakers won the battle 41-40, paced by
Zana Dillard's seven rebounds. Dillard was aided by Izzo and Feminella, who each chipped in five boards while
Nicole SantaMaria cleared four.
The Lakers will continue with SUNYAC play with its next game, a 2 p.m. start at Buffalo State on Saturday.
