Oswego Suffers Loss to SUNYAC's Top Team

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team lost a 72-59 contest to host Geneseo on Tuesday night. With the conference loss, the Lakers overall record is 8-16 with a 6-11 mark in the SUNYAC while the Knights remain atop the league standings at 19-4, 15-1. The defeat eliminates Oswego from playoff contention.

Oswego controlled the game early, leading Geneseo for the majority of the opening 12 minutes. The Lakers held a margin of as many as seven in that starting span, but a 3-pointer at 6:52 by the Knights stole back the lead, one they would never relinquish.

Alisha Jacobs paced the Lakers in the scoring column, registering 13 points. Close behind Jacobs was teammate Courtney Ameele, tallying 12 points while junior Heather Hebert was the final Oswego player in double-figures, scoring 10.

Zana Dillard made an impact off the bench, collecting a team-high seven rebounds in just 15 minutes of action. The freshman also chipped in three points.

Oswego will closeout the regular season at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts Cortland for Senior Night. Prior to the game, the Lakers will honor its two seniors, Emily Birchall and Lexi Gillard
