OSWEGO, N.Y. – The No. 9 Oswego State women's ice hockey team fell 6-0 to Elmira on the road Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 18-5-1 on the year and 12-4-1 in the ECAC West. The No. 1 Soaring Eagles go to 22-1-1 overall, 17-0-0 in the conference.
In a battle with the top team in the country, Oswego found themselves in an early hole going down by three goals in the first. The team improved defensively allowing only two goals in the second and a single in the third.
At the face-off dot,
Lizzy Marks had a good outing, winning 12 of the 18 face-offs she took.
Bridget Smith earned 43 saves on the night, just one shy of her season-high.
Women's ice hockey will return to action at 3 p.m. on Sunday as it will play Elmira again on the road.
