OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team defeated Fredonia 80-71 in a road contest at Steele Hall on Friday night. The conference win lifts Oswego to a 6-13 overall mark and a 4-8 SUNYAC record while Fredonia falls to 8-11, 5-8.
A trio of underclassmen led Oswego's offense, as each finished the night with double-digit points. Freshman
Courtney Ameele recorded a team-high 15 points, all from 3-point land.
Guard
Mary Mazzella certainly played bigger than her 5-foot-4 frame, as she was able to snag a career-high 14 rebounds to compliment her 14 points on the night. The Peru native's first career double-double helped pace a Laker 13-rebound advantage over their conference-foe.
Rachael Windhausen followed suit with a double-double of her own, recording her third of the season. The freshman tallied 13 points and collected 10 rebounds.
The Lakers put on a nice display of teamwork, as nine different players managed to score at least one basket.
Oswego will look to carry the momentum into Buffalo State for a 4 p.m. contest on Saturday.
