Oswego Heads to Hobart for NCAA First Round

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's ice hockey team, ranked in the top-10 nationally all year and sitting at No. 3/4 prior to Monday's new polls, will head to Hobart College for an NCAA Championship First Round game on Saturday in The Cooler. It will be the Lakers' sixth-straight appearance in the national tournament, all of which resulted with an appearance in the Frozen Four.

Game time and tickets will be determined following a conference call on Tuesday. Information about those two topics will be made available on oswegolakers.com as well as the athletics department's Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Oswego and Hobart have already met once this season, with the Lakers coming away with a 5-4 victory on Jan. 9 in the Marano Campus Center Arena. In that meeting, Oswego scored the game's first four goals before needing a Kenny Neil tally at 12:42 of the third period to secure the win.

The Lakers also hold the all-time series over the Statesmen, lacing up against one another 42 times, with Oswego coming out with a 35-4-3 record.

Both teams earned one of the three Pool-C at-large bids in this year tournament, as Oswego was the runner-up in the SUNYAC Championship while Hobart won the ECAC West crown, a conference that does not have enough schools to receive an automatic qualifier.
