GAME 1In the first contest of the day, Oswego began slow, allowing five runs through the first five innings. The team was able to get the ball rolling in the bottom of the fifth though as
Jacquie Porreca cashed in a solo homerun. Porreca continued to spark the offense in the sixth, as she knocked in
Jessie Terrano with a single to center field. The comeback was put to a halt though and the score remained 5-2 through the end.
Porreca's had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with the aforementioned homerun and single.
Melanie Klauser pitched in offensively as well, as the freshman went 2-for-4.
Lisa O'Callaghan pitched a complete game for the Lakers, earning four strikeouts on the day.
GAME 2The Lakers went down early, giving up two runs in the first inning and one in the second. In the fourth inning, Oswego started to attempt a comeback, as Terrano scored a run off an
Ashley Lyman sacrifice fly.
Oswego earned its second run of the game as Alexandra McKay was able to steal home in the bottom of the fifth. The play was a designed steal, as
Melissa Siegfried got caught in a run-down situation after attempting to steal second. As the Blue Devils were preoccupied with her, McKay was able to safely make it home.
At the plate, seven Oswego State Lakers had a hit. Lyman recorded the Lakers sole RBI.
Pitching duties were served by
Alexis Nasca who manned the rubber for four innings. O'Callaghan then took over in the fifth. Both pitchers notched three strikeouts in the game.
Softball will be back in action at noon on Sunday as they host the Buffalo Bengals in another doubleheader.
