OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State field hockey team fell 5-1 to No. 18 William Smith College at Laker Turf Stadium on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Lakers move to 0-1 on the season, while the Herons improve to 1-0.
After trailing 3-0 after one half, it took just six minutes into the second for the Lakers to find the back of the net themselves.
Lisa O'Callaghan received a pass from
Bri Sturdevant and was able to lift her shot over the Herons goalie's shoulder, cutting the lead to just two. Oswego was unable to capitalize on the momentum though, eventually falling to William Smith 5-1.
Sarita Charap played all 70 minutes between the pipes for the Lakers, racking up 12 total saves.
Field Hockey returns to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday as it heads to Nazareth College to take on the Golden Flyers.
