NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's soccer team was downed 1-0 by New Paltz Saturday afternoon on the road. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 4-4 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. The Hawks move to 2-8, 1-1 in the SUNYAC.
Oswego seemed to control a majority of the game, doubling New Paltz's shots 16-8. The team was also able to muster eight corner kicks to the Hawks one, but were unable to find the back of the net. Near the end of regulation, the Lakers almost tied it up as
Nicole Perniciaro ripped a shot with 24 seconds left, but the effort was saved.
Eight different players recorded a shot for the Lakers including
Mary Morrison and
Emma Geyer, who both accumulated three.
Alyssa Glasshagel played the entire goal in game for the Lakers, notching four total saves.
Women's will go on the road to play Alfred University on Tuesday at 7 p.m. before returning home on Friday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. to start a weekend slate against SUNYAC-foes Potsdam and Plattsburgh.
