OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Oswego State Lakers will feature eight teams in action on the first weekend of the new athletic calendar year.

Volleyball kicks off the weekend on Friday at the University of Scranton Tournament. The team will play the host Royals first at 2:30 p.m., before matching up against the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at 4:30 p.m. Action will continue on Saturday, as Oswego plays Anna Maria College at 9:30 a.m. Depending on the outcome of the earlier matches, a playoff match will determine the winner of the tourney.

The Lakers look to continue their success after winning their first match of the season in straight sets Tuesday evening over Wells College. Follow the action here:

Coming off a loss to No. 13 St. Lawrence University, the Oswego State men's soccer team will look to rebound against SUNY Canton at 3 p.m. in the first game of the Oswego State Soccer Classic at the Laker Turf Stadium. William Paterson University and Houghton College will face off in the second game beginning at 5 p.m. The winners of the Friday games will play in the championship game on Saturday following the third-place game at 1 p.m.

The women's soccer team, also coming off a loss to the St. Lawrence Saints, will take the field for the first of two weekend matches at 3 p.m. on Friday. The squad will play host to the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Bobcats and then continue action at 1 p.m. on Saturday against the Desales University Bulldogs.

Women's tennis will begin its fall season with a match against conference-foe Geneseo at the Romney Tennis Courts on Friday at 4 p.m. The team is coming off a 5-11 season in 2014-15.

For their first races of the year, the men's and women's cross country teams will head to Utica to take part in the SUNY Poly Wildcats Invitational. In 2014, both teams placed first out of 12 schools on the course.

Laker golf will be headed to the links of the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course at St. Lawrence University for the SLU Invite this weekend. The two-day invitational will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday and continue through until its conclusion on Sunday.

Field Hockey will be headed west to Rochester for a game against Nazareth College on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. The squad is coming off a 5-1 loss on Tuesday to the No. 18 William Smith College Herons under the lights on the Laker Turf Stadium.
