OSWEGO, N.Y. -  Winter sports are back in full swing as nine teams will be competing this weekend, including the season opener for men's and women's track and field.

Both basketball team's will continue some home conference action this weekend beginning with a women's contest at 5:30 p.m. on Friday against Plattsburgh. The women will then return to the court the following day at 2 p.m. to square off against Potsdam.

Men's basketball will follow the women's games on both days, facing Plattsburgh at 7:30 p.m. before taking on the Potsdam Bears the next day at 4 p.m.

At the Marano Campus Center Arena, men's ice hockey will repeat a showdown against the Utica Pioneers at 7 p.m. on Friday. The two teams met up last week, ending in a scoreless tie after 65 minutes of play.

The swimming and diving teams will start their 2016 with a home meet against SUNYAC-foe Buffalo State beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Laker Pool. Come down to Laker hall to watch the action or wait until results are posted at the conclusion of the races.

On the road this weekend is women's ice hockey, who travel to neighboring Pennsylvania for a two-game series against Chatham University. The Lakers will drop the puck for the first game at 5 p.m. on Friday before taking on the Cougars again the following day at 3 p.m.

Also on the road this weekend is the Oswego State wrestling team which will travel to the Rochester Institute of Technology for the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Championships. Visit TRACKWRESTLING to view matches during the tournament.

Rounding out the weekend is the men's and women's track and field teams, which will be competing at the Harold T. and Bernadette Clark Invitational hosted by Utica College. Events will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday and run through the course of the day.
