BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team fell to conference-foe Brockport 66-49 Tuesday evening in Tuttle Gymnasium. With the loss, Oswego falls to 1-6 in the conference and 3-11 overall. Brockport improves to 4-3 in the SUNYAC (8-6 overall).
Oswego played well through the first half, never relinquishing the lead after
Mary Mazzella scored the first basket of the contest. Just 2:34 into the third quarter though, the teams found themselves deadlocked at 26 a piece. From there on out, the Lakers and Golden Eagles traded buckets to close out the stanza. Brockport was able to then control the fourth quarter, outscoring Oswego 17-12 and eventually pulling away with the victory.
Senior guard
Tayler Sorell scored a team-high 21 points, hitting the 20 mark for the second time in as many games. She was aided by Mazzella who recorded 14 on the night.
Mazzella also showed her presence underneath the hoop, reeling in seven rebounds. Sorell and
Courtney Ameele each ended the contest with six.
Women's basketball returns to the court at 2 p.m. on Saturday as it hosts Cortland at Max Ziel Gymnasium.
