OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Oswego State men's soccer team completed its season with a 2-1 overtime loss to Morrisville State on Wednesday afternoon. Oswego finishes at 4-13, while the Mustangs improve to 13-3.
Despite battling valiantly for over 97 minutes, Oswego was unable to pull out the victory. Jon Runge started the senior day contest and played the entire game in goal, putting together a great performance. Runge made five saves, all of which were equally impressive with some coming by the tip of the finger.
On the defensive side, the Lakers were aggressive and made many important stops when the Mustangs took the ball on the run. Although tallying just two blocked shots, Oswego's pressure forced several miscues for the Mustangs over the course of the contest.
The Lakers lone goal was scored by senior Paul Kwoyelo off a header at 53:00. He received the ball from Lucas Williamson across the box and with a controlled strike, found the back of the net for his first-career score.
Oswego outshot the Mustangs by a large margin, racking up 20 attempts with nine on-target versus Morrisville's 11 shots and seven on-goal. The team also took five corner kicks throughout.
