Woite's Two Tallies Lead Lakers To Conference Win

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State field hockey team defeated the Brockport Golden Eagles—3-2—on Friday evening. Oswego is now 7-1 and 2-0 in the SUNYAC with the conference victory; Brockport is 2-10 and 0-4 on the season.

Three-straight goals in a matter of just over 17 minutes powered Oswego past visiting Brockport. Christina Conkling's goal put the Golden Eagles in front first with the tallying coming in the 13th minute, however, Lacey Woite did not allow it stay that way for long.

Just short of 10 minutes later, the sophomore scored her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Grace Rinaldi. After a penalty corner was directed by the latter, Woite rounded up the ball and fired it into the goal.

Woite returned to score another goal, which was her team-leading fifth of the year just minutes later. This time the tally was unassisted as the Amherst, N.Y. native drove the ball into scoring range and struck it into the back of the net.

Oswego's scoring was completed by Monica Harvey in the 39th minute when she followed suit and took the ball coast to coast on her own. The Queensbury, N.Y. native dribbled around and between several Golden Eagle defenders while maintaining control before eventually scoring.

Sarita Charap tallied four saves in the win, which was her seventh of the season. She played all 70 minutes in the goal.

Oswego State will return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when it travels to Cortland for another conference matchup.
