OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team dropped a contest to nationally-ranked University of Rochester 63-44. Oswego is now 0-4 on the year, while the Yellowjackets are 4-1.
After initially starting the contest with two leads—4-0 and 7-4—over the course of the first 5-plus minutes, the Lakers were eventually unable to keep pace with the No. 7 team in the nation.
Heather Hebert had an impressive night for Oswego, proving elusive in the paint. The junior laid in a number of scoop layups around Yellowjacket defenders. Hebert finished with 16 points on 8-of-14 (57%) shooting and also paced Oswego in rebounds with eight clears, narrowly missing a double-double.
Elsewhere,
Quincey Zimmerman played 19 minutes off the bench. She scored eight points, including going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Zimmerman also tallied six rebounds in the contest.
Defensively, the Lakers were able to keep Rochester to just 32 percent shooting from the field and limit the Yellowjackets to two made 3-pointers. The Lakers also forced 10 turnovers leading to 15 points.
Women's basketball returns to action at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday to host the SUNY Canton Kangaroos in a nonconference battle.
