CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's basketball team closed out its season with a 75-53 loss at Cortland on Friday evening in Corey Gym.
Oswego opened the game on a quick 5-0 spurt, coming on a jumper and 3-pointer from
Courtney Ameele. Cortland responded with a 15-0 run of its own, a lead the Red Dragons would never relinquish. The Lakers fought throughout the game, even narrowing the margin to just four points, 33-29, at the break. In the second half, however, Cortland would grow its advantage to as many as 25, putting a stop to the Laker thoughts of a comeback.
Ameele paced Oswego with 14 points while grabbing seven rebounds. That rebound total trailed only teammate
Zana Dillard for the Lakers, who ended one rebound shy of a double-double (10 pts., 9 rebs.). Also in double figures for Oswego was
Sarah Feminella, whose 11 points tied a career-high set early in the season at SUNY Canton.
Lone senior
Tayler Sorell registered six points and four boards in her final game for the Lakers.
Oswego wraps the year with a 4-21 overall record and a 2-16 mark in the SUNYAC. The Red Dragons head into the postseason 17-8 on the year and 12-6 in the conference.
