OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's ice hockey team fell 8-1 to No. 2 Elmira College at the Marano Campus Center Arena Friday night. With the loss, Oswego moves to 6-8-3 in the conference and 11-9-4 overall. The Soaring Eagles improve to 15-2-0 in the conference (20-3-1 overall).
The Lakers came out hot, keeping the puck in the Elmira's half for the first five minutes. Oswego peppered the netminder, finally breaking through at the 4:22 mark.
Laura Thacker started the play, collecting a loose puck in the corner. She sent it up to
Kendall Appelbaum, who sent a hard pass into the high slot.
Bailee Goodon was there to receive the puck, one-timing it past the goalie and scoring her second goal in as many games. The lead would fail to hold though, as the Elmira scored eight unanswered to capture the win.
Tori Trovato got the start for the Lakers, finishing with 14 saves in 49:21 of play. She would get relieved at the 10:39 mark of the third by
Mikaela Ditonto, who stopped six Soaring Eagle shots.
Women's ice hockey will finish its homeseries with Elmira at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Marano Campus Center Arena. The team will take time at the end of the game to honor its four seniors for Senior day as well.
