Lakers Dominate Faceoff 'X' Despite Loss

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team fell 12-6 to Geneseo on the road Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Oswego moves to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the conference. Geneseo improves to 5-3 on the year (1-0 SUNYAC).

Oswego was able to score in every period, but had trouble keeping the Knights off the board. After going down two to begin the game, Luke Krizman scored his eighth of the year with an assist from Mark Frega. Bobby Emerson scored the only other Laker goal of the half, converting on a man-up situation with 2:33 left in the second.

To open up the third, the teams traded a set of goals as Emerson got his second of the day and Frega earned his first. Geneseo outscored the Lakers in the fourth 4-2 though as James Lennon and Bobby Emerson's goal were part of a late comeback that fell short.

Despite the loss, Oswego dominated the 50-50 chances, scooping up 33 of the 57 groundballs. The Lakers also won 16 of the 21 draws, all of them coming by way of Chase Izyk.

Men's lacrosse will return to action at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday as the team continues its conference play with an away bout against Oneonta.
