OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's ice hockey team has released its 2016-17 schedule and season tickets will be on sale in the coming weeks. Oswego will host 13 home games in the upcoming campaign, with each of those contests starting at 7 p.m.
Season tickets can be purchased from July 15-Aug. 5 for those who currently own a package. Packages will cost $91 per seat unless the purchaser is member of the Blueline Club, which will reduce the rate to $78 per seat. From Aug. 8-10, all seats remaining will be used to accommodate any season-ticket holder's addition or change of seating arrangements. All of this information has been sent directly to season ticket holders and the forms should be filled out and returned to the Marano Campus Center Box Office.
Those interested in becoming a new season-ticket holder will be able to purchase packages starting on Aug. 10. For new season ticket holder interests, please call the box office at 315-312-3073 on or after Aug. 10.
The 2016-17 season will begin on Oct. 22 as the CCHL All-Graduate Team comes to the Marano Campus Center Arena for an exhibition contest during Family & Friends Weekend. Following a home-and-away series with Elmira the next weekend, Oswego will open SUNYAC competition at Brockport on Nov. 4. The next night, the Lakers will host Geneseo during Homecoming Weekend.
Oswego will then play eight of its next nine games on the road, featuring two, four-game away stands. The first four-game trip features Cortland (Nov. 11), Potsdam (Nov. 18), Plattsburgh (Nov. 19) and Morrisville (Dec. 2), before hosting the Mustangs on Dec. 3 as part of the United Way Night and Teddy Bear Toss. On Dec. 9, the Lakers start their next four-game journey, opening with Fredonia followed by Buffalo State the next night.
After a 20-day holiday break, Oswego will return to action in Norwich University's 2016 Northfield Savings Bank Tournament. In Northfield, Vt., the Lakers will face Williams College on Dec. 30 before playing either the host Cadets or Nazareth College on Dec. 31.
The following weekend will be the annual PathFinder Bank/Oswego State Hockey Classic, featuring Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Jan. 6 and either Curry College or Utica College on Jan. 7.
Of the team's remaining 10 contests, seven will be played on home ice. Those home battles feature Brockport for Minor Hockey Night (Jan 20), Cortland for Teal Game (Jan. 27), Potsdam and Plattsburgh for Whiteout Weekend (Feb. 3-4), Canton for Service Appreciation Night (Feb.10), Fredonia for Laker Pride Night when fans are encouraged to wear yellow (Feb. 17) and Buffalo State on Senior Night (Feb. 18). During that span, Oswego will have trips to Nazareth (Jan. 13), Geneseo (Jan. 21) and Canton (Feb. 11).
Postseason play will begin with the SUNYAC Championship First Round on Wednesday, Feb. 22 while the NCAA Championship starts on March 11.
